'Juma' Mosque Icherisher

     On the 25th February with regard to the seventh day of heroic death of the crown of shekhids Imam Husseine (a) at the initiative of the religious community of “Juma” mosque there was held a scientific conference.
     The subject of the conference was: “Kerbelah: the civil stand and the ideals of freedom”. Prominent representatives of the country’s intelligentsia, public activists and mass media representatives participated in this conference.
     First, the participants of the conference read a prayer in remembrance of the Khodjali tragedy victims and also of all those who died defending the holy lands of the Motherland.
     While opening the conference with the words of introduction, Imam Jamaat of “Juma” mosque in Icherishekher Hajji Ilgar Ibrahimoglu said that Imam Husseine (a) who had for centuries embodied the symbol of struggle for freedom, was at the same time the founder of the doctrine of non-violent resistance. He remarked that the essence of the events in Kerbelah was clearly outlined by the slogan of Imam Husseine (a): “I shall never accept the power of usurper and tyrant Yezid”. During the whole way from Medina to Kerbelah Imam Husseine (a) brought to people the truth that his uprising against the tyranny was based on the divine mission of calling for the good deeds and precluding sinful actions. The Imam’s (a) message to mankind is best of all expressed in his good stand: “We are far from mean things !” and “To die with honor is higher than to live in disgrace!”
     Further Hajji Ilgar noted that one of the most important lessons of Ashura was the image of a perfect woman in Islam expressed in the personality of Khanim Zeynab (s.a.) who symbolizes the increasing role of a woman in a society as she said: “I saw nothing but nice things in Kerbelah” and by saying so she made a real revolution in the notion of aesthetics.
     At the end of his speech Hajji Ilgar addressed the intelligentsia and said it was vital to preserve the school of Ashura, which is standard for a passion driven behavior aimed at the future. And with this regard it is very important to carry out educational activities.
     The next one to speak was the prominent representative of the country’s intelligentsia Murshid Mammedli who touched upon the description of Kerbelah theme in a classical literature. He said that Imam Husseine’s (a) uprising is perceived as the symbol for triumph of justice.
     The famous person of culture Akif Islamzade called the tragedy in Kerbelah the highest point of shekhid movement and drastically objected to the attempts of deforming this holy notion.
     The politologist Zardusht Alizade noted in his speech that in our reality the ideals for which Imam Husseine (a) gave his life gain the special importance. He said that the example of shekhids must be the standard for the whole umma.
     Speaking further S. Akper talked about the importance of Islamic education and with this regard he stressed the special importance of the conference in question.
     A historian Altay Geyushov noted that the Prophet (s) of Islam had spoken of the special importance for umma of the love for Imam Husseine (a). the speaker stated that this love should be expressed by following the ideals of Imam Husseine’s (a).
     The famous lawyer Isakhan Ashurov said that the people presented nowadays in the religions community of “Juma” mosque are at the same time the true bearers of Imam Husseine’s (a) ideals and they bring these ideals to the public in the way most suitable by form and contents.
     The famous journalist Z. Hajji said of the epochal importance of preservation in the society of such values as purity, justice and selfness.
     In his speech Adil Huseionov said that Imam Husseine’s (a) uprising characterizes as good as possible the following expression of his: ”I rose for this struggle in order to invite people to do good deeds and to protect from bad ones, to preservethe religion of the Messenger of Allah”. A. Huseinov stressed that having become a shekhid Imam Husseine (a) said the decisive “NO!” to evil, tyranny and injustice. And by his becoming a shekhid he defeated the enemies of Islam.
     A historian and member of Parliament Jamil Hasanli in his speech noted that a tragedy of a man begins when he gets away from truth. And the brightest example of a struggle for the truth is Imam Husseine’s (a) uprising against the tyranny. “Remarkable is that Azerbaijan is one of the places where the ceremonies for Imam Husseine (a) have always been carefully kept” – said J. Hasanli.
     A.Narimanoglu in his speech noted that in Kerbelah Imam Husseine (a) erected the monument to courage and selflessness. He also remarked the annual ceremonies observed by Muslims are very important in terms of preserving the heroic heritage of Imam Husseine (a).
     The famous politologist Hikmet Hajizade said that the people who find themselves around the religious community of “Juma” mosque are the true bearers of Islamic values. Speaking about the events in Kerbelah H. Hajizade stressed that Imam Husseine is one of the persons who bring salvation to the mankind.
     Hajji Namig analyzed the school of Ashura from the point of view of real inter-relation between its individual and public components. He also said that the attempts to deform the perception of Imam Husseine (a) were vane.
     N. Allahverdiev brought to the attention of the participants of the conference the good expression: “every day is Ashura and everywhere is Kerbelah”. He stressed that it was very important to express a real civil stand in a routine everyday life.
     Hajji Fuad noted that preservation of the lessons of Ashura is of paramount importance regarding the preservation in the society of the divine values on the whole.
     The famous human rights activist Arzu Abdullayeva also spoke at the conference. She said that the subjects discussed at the conference were a kind of impulse for development of a civil society on the whole.
     At the end of the event its participants were given the memory calendars with a diminutive picture reflecting one of the scenes of Ashura.
